Confirm the exact problem
Save the source URL, target URL, observation date and the reason for concern. Check whether the link is still present and whether it actually points to your site. A stale export, a redirected URL or a failed request can otherwise send you down the wrong path.
If you are investigating an order, compare it with the agreed publication terms. An incorrect anchor, wrong destination, expired placement and unwanted third-party link are different issues. Give each one its own record and proposed action.
Understand the available actions
| Action | Who controls it | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Edit or remove a source link | The authorized source-page operator | The actual page content. |
| Repair your target page | Your website operator | The destination experience. |
| Disavow links for Google | An authorized Search Console user following the tool requirements | A request about how specified links are considered, not deletion of the source page. |
StarBacklink is not offering a general backlink-removal service through this guide. For an order made here, use its support path with the order reference and evidence attached.
Use disavowal only for the documented situation
Google describes the disavow tool as an advanced feature and says most sites do not need it. Its guidance focuses on a considerable number of spammy, artificial or low-quality links together with a manual action, or a likely manual action, relating to them. Read the current official requirements before making changes.
A third-party toxicity score alone does not establish those conditions. If you do not understand the scope or consequences of a proposed disavow file, obtain a qualified review. Keep a copy of any existing file and the evidence behind proposed additions rather than replacing it casually.
Make a specific, documented request
Where a source-page change is appropriate, identify the precise link and the requested correction. Contact an authorized operator using a legitimate contact route. Do not assume that someone selling a removal service controls the site or can guarantee an outcome.
Record the request date, response and subsequent inspection. A claimed removal should be checked on the source page. If a request cannot be resolved, preserve that fact without inventing a successful result. This guide does not send requests or contact publishers for you.
Keep the review proportional
Review important findings and patterns rather than reacting to every unfamiliar domain. Preserve a decision log with the evidence, action and next review date. Monitor your own site and Search Console notices as part of the wider investigation.
If the issue concerns a paid placement here, include the order identifier, source URL, expected target and check time in your support request. The ordering guide explains the records available in the workspace.
